VIDEO IN THE CLASSROOM AWARDS
The Video in the Classroom (VIC) Awards Program was instituted by KLCS-TV in 1988 to recognize and stimulate interest in the use of video production technology as a teaching tool. Teachers and students are encouraged to use video production technology as a natural out growth of the curriculum with the goal of addressing the California State Content Standards. A gala VIC Awards Ceremony is held each year in June, and is broadcast on KLCS throughout the year.
By encouraging students and teachers to incorporate technology in the curriculum, we are providing our students with additional tools to succeed.
KLCS also acknowledges teachers who use Classroom Instructional Television (CITV) to enrich student learning. The prestigious Classroom Instructional Television Award (CITVA) recognizes the achievement of the Los Angeles Unified School District teachers who demonstrate exemplary use of CITV at their school site.
The 2004 VIC Focus Award, Using Video Production to Highlight Literary Works, was sponsored by Share a Story with KLCS - part of PBS KIDS’ national literacy campaign that inspires adults to help children develop language and literacy skills through daily activities, including reading aloud, performing, writing, rhyming, singing, and drawing.
The annual VIC Awards ceremony is just one of many programs used by KLCS-TV and the LAUSD to promote the benefits of critical thinking and problem-solving skills acquired through interactive multimedia and video programs.
